BSF APPREHENDED 2 SMUGGLERS WITH YABA TABLETS ON BORDER

On 01 July, 2021, the vigilant troops of South Bengal Frontier, BSF nabbed 02 smugglers with 125 Yaba tablets near the International Boundary(IB). The estimated cost of the seized Yaba tablets is Rs.62,500/-. All these Yaba tablets were being smuggled to Bangladesh from the Border Out Post Ghojadanga area of North 24 Parganas district.

01 July BSF troops were on routine search operation near Zero Line (International Boundary) in the area of Border Out Post Ghojadanga. At around 1730, the Search Party observed a suspicious youth coming from the Village Itinda side and going towards the International Border through ICP bridge for the purpose of smuggling. When Search Party challenged to stop the smuggler, he suddenly tried to escape back into Indian territory. But the BSF party caught the suspected youth (smuggler) without giving any chance. When he was searched, a packet was recovered from his possession which contained 125 Yaba tablets. Soon the jawans seized the Yaba tablets and the smuggler was also taken into custody. On being revealed by the detained smuggler Laltu Karmakar, another smuggler Sahabuddin Mandal was taken into custody from village- Ghojadanga (Uttarpara).

The apprehended smugglers have been identified as Laltu Karmakar (27) Sahabuddin Mandal (27), both are residents of village- Ghojadanga.  During questioning, the apprehended smugglers Laltu Karmakar and Sahabuddin Mandal revealed that both of them are Indian citizens. Further, Laltu Karmakar revealed that he works as a supplier of Yaba tablets, this morning (July 01) at 1150 hrs, he got these yaba tablets from Sahabuddin Mandal and further moved for village Ghojadanga through crossing the ICP bridge for which he would have got Rs 500/ from Sahabuddin Mandal. But BSF party apprehended him red handed with yaba tablets near ICP bridge Ghojadanga.
During questioning , another smuggler Sahabuddin Mandal revealed that he is being falsely implicated by Laltu Karmakar whereas he never does such work nor has he given Yaba tablets to Laltu Karmakar.

 As per the prior records of the Border Security Force, Sahabuddin Mandal was involved in the supply of Yaba tablets and was caught by the Border Security Force party along with 81 Yaba tablets on 27 May 2021 near the International Boundary and under FIR No. 378/21. He was handed over to police station Basirhat on 27 May 2021 and was on bail given by the Court. Arrested smugglers and seized yaba tablets have been handed over to Police Station Basirhat for further legal proceedings.

Shri Jawahar Singh Negi, Commanding Officer, 153 Battalion, BSF has expressed happiness over the achievements of his jawans which resulted in the apprehended of 02 smugglers and the seizure of 125 Yaba tablets. He stated that this has been possible only because of the alertness displayed by the jawans on duty. He further added that his jawans are fully determined and committed to fulfill the resolve of Zero Smuggling for cross border crimes, a campaign launched by IG South Bengal Frontier BSF, Kolkata.
