BY A STAFF REPORTER: Matt Scott's only wish since childhood was to be a basketball player. He wanted to take the winner's trophy into his hands. But for the person who is unable to stand up, how will he accomplish this impossible task? He has been suffering from spinal bifida since birth. But even he did not give up.
He joined a wheelchair basketball team for the first time at the age of 14. He became part of the US Men's National Wheelchair Basketball Team in 2004 and won the gold medal with his team at the Parapan American Games in Brazil in 2007.
He is a four-time paralympian and two-time medalist. He won a gold medal at the Paralympic Games in Rio in 2016 and a bronze medal at the Paralympic Games in London in 2012. Although last year he was in a coma for a week and spent four months in the hospital recovering, Matt didn't give up. Now his only wish is to win another gold medal at the next Paralympic Games.
