TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO’S HEALTH MINISTER SAYS NO VACCINE MANDATE

By a Staff Reporter: Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh sought to clear the air on Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley’s announcement of a public service shutdown to get vaccinated or face no pay. What comes across as a vaccine mandate, is not sitting well with many as they are saying that their rights are being infringed.

But at Monday’s Ministry of Health media briefing, Minister Deyalsingh explained that this is not a mandate as persons still have a choice…but in making a choice, there will be consequences. He said that this is just an extension of governments voluntary vaccination drive.

Also, in order to facilitate public sector workers who are expected to use the start of the New Year to get vaccinated, Minister Deyalsingh said additional booster sites will be added in the New Year.

He said adding sites now will cause them to be underutilized.
