Although the omicron figures are galloping by the minute in Kolkata, the state health department had advised people not to panic. The special task force at the health department monitoring the Covid situation mentioned that double vaccinated people might develop some symptoms but these are unlikely to be fatal unless the person has extreme comorbidities. ``It is more like a flu with a five day recovery period,'' a senior health department official told ANM News over phone. Quoting a recent survey report, health department officials mentioned that the government expects the omicron virus to subside by the end of January. ``Please wear your masks and follow Covid protocol,'' the official said.
