BY A STAFF REPORTER: As a noble gesture Indian railways have decided to let trains run throughout the night. The union railway ministry directed Eastern Railway to increase the frequency of trains. Incidentally, locals had sat on a dharna on railway tracks near Bongaon and Basirhat demanding that the government run trains even after the scheduled closure of 10 PM. Chief secretary HK Dwivedi intervened and spoke to senior officials of the railways department and after a series of discussions, railways have decided to run trains as ``patrol special'' beyond 10 PM till 5 AM. Railway officials in Delhi mentioned that only 40 trains have been canceled out of several hundred suburban trains.
