CHINOOK WINDS EXPECTED TO WARM CALGARY AFTER THE COLD ARTIC BLAST

By Chandrayee Roy Choudhury, Canada: Chinook winds are expected to warm the Calgary area this week, providing a break from frigid temperatures brought by a cold Arctic blast in recent weeks.
The Arctic air mass is giving way to warmer weather that is forecasted to stick around for most of the week, said Heather Pimiskern, a meteorologist with Environment and Climate Change Canada. A westerly wind is expected to bring temperatures above normal, after about two weeks of bone-chilling cold.
While we will be seeing above normal temperatures this week, we can expect temperatures to return back to normal later in the week into early next week.”

Daytime temperatures on Sunday reached a high of -10 C with the weather expected to warm overnight to -5 C. Monday is expected to be sunny with increasing cloudiness and a high of 5 C, however, by Tuesday temperatures could reach up to 14 C, according to Environment Canada’s forecast.
