For a few days, it was heard that the board was thinking of hosting the tournament in two phases. This time, bcci secretary Jay Shah gave the seal to the news. He said the first stage will be a league game and in the second phase there will be a knockout game. Jay Shah said, "The board has decided to host the Ranji Trophy in two parts. In the first part, we decided to play in the league. And there will be a knockout stage game in June. However, the BCCI has not yet finalised when the Ranji trophy will start. According to the cricket fraternity, ranji's group stage matches may take place before the IPL. And there is a possibility of knockout stage after IPL.
