Single bench referred Hijab Case to larger bench in Karnataka High Court

By a Staff Reporter: The case was referred to a larger bench stating that there were constitutional questions in the hijab controversy. The controversy over not allowing students to enter the college wearing hijabs started in Karnataka. The debate has reached all over the country. The case was heard on Wednesday after Tuesday. Justice Krishna S Dixit today sought to refer the case to a larger bench. Considering the seriousness of the case, he has directed the registry department to ensure that the documents pertaining to the case are placed before the Chief Justice immediately. However, for now, the court has not given any order on whether the students can take classes wearing hijabs or not. The students protested in different parts of the country in the wake of the incident in Karnataka. Congress leader Adhir Chowdhury also demanded a statement on the issue in Parliament.
