Tornado at 219 km/h hit Czech Republic

BY A STAFF REPORTER

A tornado stuck several villages in the south-eastern Breclav and Hodonin districts in the Czech Republic, killing four people and leaving more than 100 others injured. Authorities said houses were damaged, trees uprooted and cars overturned in the tornedo. Winds of at least 219km/h made the worst hit areas look like a war zone.
The government said around 1,000 homes had been affected and local authorities were working to provide accommodation for people whose roofs had been destroyed.
