BY A STAFF REPORTER:
The chief minister Mamata Banerjee has expressed her deep anguish at police inaction which led to the mass murder at Bugtui village in Birbhum. Mamata reached the spot in the afternoon and spoke to families of the deceased. They poured their anger at local TMC leader Anirul. The villagers claimed they had informed Anirul but he did not inform the police as their houses were being attacked and inmates set on fire. The villagers also complained against SDPO, Rampurhat Shayan Ahmed and OC of Rampurhat police station. Incidentally ANM News had exposed the role of SDPO Rampurhat and local police officers. According to ANM News investigations, Ahmed and inspector-in-charge of Rampurhat police station did not respond to SOS from the trapped inmates of the house. Chief minister Mamata held both Ahmed and IC of Rampurhat police station responsible for the incident and directed state director general of police Manoj Malviya to initiate strong action.
