After Mamata sermon, DGP clamps down on forces, issues strict instructions

By a Staff Reporter: The state director general of police, Manoj Malviya has issued a stern warning to his forces--work as a police officer to maintain law and order or perish. Malviya who has been camping in Birbhum for the past three days told ANM News that chief minister Mamata Banerjee has made her intention clear and the same has been percolated to the officers of all ranks in the police service. As a first step, he has directed that ``no senior officers including from nearby districts or commissionerates of Kolkata will leave station headquarter or jurisdiction without prior approval from police.'' The DGP has also directed district police chiefs to conduct raids and flush out arms, ammunitions and bombs. Malviya also mentioned that he will personally monitor the situation.
