By a Staff Reporter: Britain's Andy Murray has pulled out of the Madrid Open citing illness ahead of the match against Novak Djokovic. Tournament organisers said in a statement on Thursday. The 34-year-old Murray reached the third round of the Madrid Open with a 6-1, 3-6,6-2 win over Canada's Denis Shapovalov. He lost in the first round to Austria's Dominic Thiemto. Murray, a three-time Grand Slam winner, was due to take on world number one Novak Djokovic of Serbia in the third round today after an emphatic victory in two rounds. But before the match, he informed the organizers to withdraw. The tournament organisers said in a statement on social media: "Unfortunately, Andy Murray is unable to travel to the Manolo Santana Stadium due to illness. Andrey Rublev and Daniel Evans will start the day's play on Centre Court. Djokovic went straight to the quarter-finals after getting a walkover. In the next match, he will face one between Hubert Hurkacz and Dusan Lajovic.
