Live life the Vegan way

Veganism is the practice of eating food not derived from animals and of totally avoiding the use of other animal products. There can be various reasons for adopting this diet cum lifestyle - ethical ones like animal welfare or environmentalism, or the amazing health benefits you can derive from being on a plant-based diet.

Is a vegan diet actually good (if not better) than other diets for our health? Almost any recent reports on this published by reputed institutes seems to indicate that a vegan diet can lead to optimal health for an individual, when compared with other diets.

So, what are these health benefits exactly?

1.    Lowers blood pressure
2.    Keeps the heart healthy
3.    Helps prevents type-2 diabetes
4.    Aids with healthy weight loss
5.    Decreases risk of certain cancers
6.    Maintains the cholesterol levels
7.    Slows the progression of Alzheimer’s
8.    Reduces inflammation
9.    Improves kidney function
10.    Reduces risk of cognitive impairment and dementia
11.    Better gut health
12.    Manages arthritis pain

Even though a meat and dairy-based diet does have some nutritional benefits, when you factor in the increased risk of heart disease, diabetes, obesity, harmful cholesterol, cancers etc. (which is directly opposing to the above benefits), overall a vegan diet is much healthier and leads to longer life spans.

The number of people adopting this has been on the rise, including celebrities like Aamir Khan, Virat Kohli, Sonakshi Sinha, Jacqueline Fernandez etc. and it’s only a matter of time before veganism will be where it should be - in everyone’s hearts and tables.
