BY A STAFF REPORTER: The northeastern states have been hit by the worst floods of the century. The state of Assam and Meghalaya have been particularly affected. Both states have recorded at least 42 deaths and nearly 40 lakh people affected. 32 of the 33 districts in the northeastern state are now flooded.am has been the worst affected as five major rivers, including Brahmaputra, Subansiri and Manas, are flowing above the danger mark.
At least eight people have died in the last 24 hours. Around 31 lakh people have been affected, of which 1.5 lakh people are taking shelter in 514 relief camps. Over 4,000 villages were affected, officials said. Lower Ass
