BY A STAFF REPORTER: Tonight is the biggest Supermoon of 2022. This year will see a total of four full Supermoons, with the third visible this week. According to NASA, the next supermoon should occur on August 12.
Supermoons occur when a full moon is within 90 percent of perigee, or the point where the moon is closest to Earth in its orbit. This celestial phenomenon causes the Moon to appear larger and brighter than usual.
