by a staff reporter: Jet fuel accounts for almost 40% of a commercial airline's operational costs on average, therefore any large rise would almost surely result in higher tickets. The price of aviation turbine fuel (ATF) was decreased by 2.2% on Saturday, reflecting a drop in international oil prices. According to a statement by state-run merchants, oil marketing firms, or OMCs, reduced ATF, or fuel used in aeroplanes and helicopters, prices by $3,084.94 per kilolitre to $1,38,147.93 per kilolitre. This is only the second time this year that rates have been decreased; prices peaked last month at 1,41,232.87 per kilo. ATF prices are typically changed on the first and sixteenth of each month, depending on benchmark world oil prices from the preceding fortnight. ATF prices have been raised 11 times since the beginning of the year, and have risen by an astounding 91%, or 67,210.46 per kilo, since January.
