BY A STAFF REPORTER: A super-transmissible subvariant of the omicron strain, known as BA.5, is causing a new surge of infections across the UK and Europe. Summer in Europe was intended to be post-Covid-19. Masks are gone in most places, and vacation season is in full swing as workers rush for the beaches and cities they imssed in the two years marked by the pandemic. However, the truth that individuals are confronted with is that the infection never went gone. A super-transmissible subvariant of the omicron strain, known as BA.5, is causing a new surge of infections across the UK and Europe.
According to the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control, which has warned that another wave of the disease is on the way, intensive-care admissions
are on the rise. The removal of foreign travel restrictions and the reintroduction of mass-participation events such as music festivals are also aiding in the spread of the virus. And, considering that most nations have
drastically reduced testing, the number of cases may already be substantially greater than the data now reveal.
