Ananya Saha : The United Arab Emirates has sentenced an American citizen and former lawyer for slain Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi to three years in prison on charges of money laundering and tax evasion. Accused Asim Ghafoor was also ordered to pay a fine of $816,748. The UAE described Ghafoor's sentencing as a coordinated move with the US to "combat transnational crimes".
