Heatwaves in Europe

By a Staff Reporter:  Asia is currently dealing with floods while Southern Europe is being tormented by the intense heat. Forest fires are being fought in Spain, Greece, and France. Numerous people have been relocated to safer locations as a result of the local temperature increase. India, Bangladesh, and China are experiencing flooding right now in Asia. Floods in this area have claimed the lives of thousands of people.

In Spain, helicopters are dousing wildfires with water, but the country's rugged terrain makes it difficult for firefighters to do their jobs. Temperatures were expected to soar over 42 degrees, according to the national weather service AEMET. Spain has had 45.7 °C days for almost a week.

On the other hand, 27,000 hectares of woodland have been affected by fires in France as of late. As a result, 14,000 people had to be relocated to safer areas. To put out the fire, 1200 employees have been dispatched. Five forest fires are being fought by firefighters in Portugal. According to Portugal's health ministry, heat-related deaths have increased to 659 during the past seven days. They were mostly older people.

Tuesday, when the temperature hit 40 (47 in some parts), saw the largest number of deaths, 440. The majority of Portugal is dry (96%).

On Saturday, there were 71 fires across Greece. Controlled flames assumed a terrifying shape as a result of the high wind. On Monday, a heat wave and extreme heat warning were both issued for the first time in Britain. According to estimates, the temperature could rise over the previously-set record of 40 degrees Celsius.
