Context of National Women's Equality Day

By A Staff Reporter : Women's Equality Day is celebrated on August 26. Women's suffrage officially became part of the US Constitution on August 26, 1920. This day marks a new turning point in the history of the struggle for equal treatment of women and women's rights.

Originally, National Women's Equality Day was created to commemorate the 1920s passage of the Nineteenth Amendment in the United States. This law prevents the federal government and states from restricting the right to vote based on their gender.
