BY A STAFF REPORTER: On 13th December, troops of Border Out Post Tarali, 112 Battalion under the South Bengal Frontier, seized 230 bottles of Phensedyl on the Border. When the alert jawans on the Border got the information of the smugglers coming near the fence, the jawans challenged the smugglers, then the they fled from there towards India. In other incidents, troops of Border Out Post Pipli, 158 Battalion, Border Out Post Sirsi, 44 Battalion, Border Out Post Kanapara, 35 Battalion and Border Out Post Mahakhola, 82 Battalion seized a total of 457 Phensedyl bottles from their area of responsibility. The estimated value of all the seized Phensedyl bottles is 1,41,047/- rupees.
The seized goods were handed over to Custom Office Tentulia, Police Station Gaighata, English Bazar, Lalgola and Chhapra respectively for further legal action. The spokesperson of the South Bengal Frontier stated that the Border Security Force is taking strict measures to prevent illegal smuggling along the India-Bangladesh Border. He further stated that smugglers keep trying to smuggle in different ways, but our jawans foil their efforts on the spot.
