BSF seizes huge consignment of 17000 Yaba Tablets

BY A STAFF REPORTER: On 27.12.2022 at about 23:00 hrs, acting on specific intelligence regarding transportation of suspected Yaba tablets in a white colour Alto Car along Katigorah - Kalain Road on NH-06 towards Meghalaya side, a Joint Ops was planned by BSF Field Intelligence Unit Silchar along with Karimganj Customs Division and Ops Team of 1 Bn BSF. At about 280120 hrs, the Joint Ops Party intercepted the suspected Alto Car near Hilara Railway crossing on Katigorah - Kalain road (NH-06). On searching the Alto Car, suspected Yaba Tablets concealed inside the left door (back side) was recovered and seized. Driver of vehicle was also apprehended.

Value of seized items as assessed by the Customs:

i) Suspected Yaba Tablets - 17,000 Nos (89 small packets - 68 blue and 21 black colour packets)
Total =17,000 tablets @ Rs 1,000/- per tablet = Rs. 1,70,00,000/- (Approx).

ii) 1 Alto Car (Regd No. ML 05 P 8654) @ Rs. 2,00,000/- (Approx).

iii) 1 Redmi Android phone @ Rs 7,000/-
Total value of seized items - Rs 1,72,07,000/- (Approx).
Disposal-The apprehended person and seized items have been taken over by Rep of Karimganj Customs Division for further legal action.
 


 
The seizure was made near Hilara Railway crossing on Katigorah - Kalain road, NH-06.
