BSF apprehended two Indian smugglers red handed with Ganja and Phensedyl

On 19 July, 2021, South Bengal Frontier, BSF troops apprehended 02 Indian smugglers and seized 8.2 kg of Ganja, 36 bottles of Phensedyl and 35 bottles of liquor from different places. All these contrabaned items were being smuggled from India to Bangladesh.

In the first incident, on July 19, 2021, on the basis of information from the Intelligence Branch of the Border Security Force, the troops of Border Out Post Ambagan, 54 battalion conducted a special operation in their area. Around 1345 hrs, the jawans saw two suspects coming with three plastic bundles in their hands. The troops asked them to stop but they started running back. After chasing them, one was apprehended by the troops, while the other managed to escape under the cover of dense bushes. After that, during the search of the surrounding area, three plastic bundles were recovered. The apprehended person was brought to the Border Out Post Ambagan along with the seized items. On opening three seized bundles, 02 kg ganja, 36 bottles of Phensedyl and 35 bottles of liquor were recovered in them.

On preliminary inquiry, the apprehended person identified as Budhisar Das, age 45 years, S/o Late Kanhai Das, Village- Gede, PS- Krishnaganj, District- Nadia, West Bengal. On further enquiry, he revealed that he works as a butcher. He further revealed that he had bought these intoxicants for Rs 15,000/- from Debu Shah, a resident of village Banpur, he was about to throw this stuff over the wire and to give to Mansoor Kala, a resident of Manikpur village in Bangladesh.

In another incident, on July 19, 2021 at around 1150 hrs, BSF jawans of 117 Battalion, Border Out Post Rajanagar succeeded in nabbing 01 Indian smuggler who was trying to smuggle Ganja from India to Bangladesh by crossing the International Boundary. The apprehended smuggler was brought to the Border Out Post Rajanagar for further interrogation. The quantity of ganja seized is 6.2 kg. The apprehended person has identified as Adhir Mandal (age 19 years), S/o Dulal Chand Mandal, Village- Four Rajanagar West Colony, Post-West Mohanganj, Police Station-Raninagar, District- Murshidabad.

On enquiry, he revealed that he had taken this Ganja from Kota Mandal, S/o-Gunen Mandal, Village-Four West Colony, Post-Mohanganj, Police Station-Raninagar, District Murshidabad. After crossing the International Boundary he was about to hand over this Ganja to Sahin Sheikh, father - Kasim Sheikh, village - Dashmari Mijaner Mor, post - Binodpur police station - Motihar district - Rajshahi (Bangladesh).
 The apprehended person was handed over with the seized items to the concerned Police Station for further action.

 Shri Deshraj Singh, Commanding Officer, 54 Battalion stated that the Border Security Force is taking strict steps to prevent smuggling of various types of goods along the Indo-Bangladesh border. Due to which the smugglers and their associates involved in such crimes are facing a lot of trouble. Some of them are being caught and they are also being punished according to the law.
