In the meantime, political parties are campaigning vigorously with a bird's eye on the upcoming election. Meanwhile, Meghalaya's Chief Electoral Officer Frederick Roy Kharkongor commented on the arrangements made in the polling stations to avoid unrest. He says, "The total number of voters in the state is more than 21 lakh and 81,443 first-time voters have been cast in the state. There are 3,182 polling stations. 119 companies of CAPF have been deployed to maintain law and order. ''
