2 dead, 16 injured as train derails in Egypt

BY A STAFF REPORTER: At least two people were killed and 16 others injured when a passenger train derailed north of Egypt's capital Cairo on Tuesday. This was the latest in a series of train accidents in the country in recent years. According to reports, the train derailed while passing through a station in Qalyub town on its way to the town of Menouf in the Nile delta. At least 20 ambulances have been dispatched to the spot and the injured have been shifted to a nearby hospital, health authorities said. Egyptian railway authorities said the train derailed due to a driver's fault.
