BJP extends service of Rakesh Asthana, appoints him as CP, Delhi

BJP government at the Centre has appointed their blue eyed IPS officer Rakesh Asthana as the commissioner of police, Delhi days before his superannuation. Asthana, a Gujrat cadre 1984 batch IPS officer was supposed to retire on July 31 this year. 

The union home ministry overnight put Asthana on inter cadre deputation from Gujrat to AGMUT and extended his service initially for a period of one year. He was subsequently appointed commissioner of police, Delhi and his batch mate SS Deswal, who is DG ITBP has been asked to hold additional charge of DG, BSF.
