CHAOS AND SCREAMS AS A 7.2 MAGNITUDE EARTHQUAKE RATTLES FRAGILE HAITI

Maniedeo Prasad, Haiti, IE TV, Trinidad : CHAOS AND SCREAMS AS A 7.2 MAGNITUDE EARTHQUAKE RATTLES FRAGILE HAITI. Many people are feared dead in Haiti after a massive 7.2 magnitude earthquake caused homes to collapse as it shook buildings across the Caribbean country.

It was slightly more powerful than the devastating earthquake of 2010, which killed more than 300,000 people, according to the government at the time.

Haiti's civil protection agency said Saturday's tremor had flattened homes and there were fears of many fatalities. The quake was felt across the Caribbean.

Video clips and photos shared online in the aftermath show severe damage to buildings in the city of Jeremie, about 125 miles west of the capital Port-au-Prince, with rubble falling into the streets and crushing cars.
