On 18 and 19 August, 2021, two Indian smugglers were apprehended with 94 bottles of Phensedyl in two separate incidents under South Bengal Frontier. The cost of the seized Phensedyl bottle is Rs 15,643. These Phensedyl smugglers were trying to smuggle Phensedyl from India to Bangladesh.

In the first incident, on 18 August, 2021 at around 1705 hrs, the troops of Border Out Post Hakimpur, 112 Battalion, Sector Kolkata, while on duty, noticed a suspicious person who was coming towards the International Boundary in a cycle rickshaw. BSF troops stopped him for searching purpose. During search, 44 Phensedyl bottles were recovered from the cycle rickshaw. At the same time the person was apprehended by the Border Security Force. The apprehended person has been identified as 1) Sujoy Malik, age- 24, S/o- Shyamal Malik, Village- Bithari, Paschim Pada, Post Office- Bithari, Police Station- Swaroop Nagar, District- North 24 Parganas.

During interrogation, the person revealed that he does petty smuggling work for his survival. He revealed that he had taken these phensedyl from Mohammad Zahid (Village- Sabrupada, Post Office- Hakimpur, Police Station- Swaroop Nagar, District- North 24 Parganas). After crossing the duty line of the Border Security Force, Phensedyl was to be returned back near Hakimpur School Ground. After successful delivery of this consignment, he would have get ₹ 1000/-. But as he was trying to cross the duty line of the Border Security Force, the troops apprehended him. He revealed that Zahid was going to give these phensedyl to Bangladesh.

In another incident, on the basis of information received from BSF Intelligence Department on 19 August, 2021, Border Out Post Nawada, Ad Hoc Battalion troops laid ambush in the general responsibility area of ​​old Suknagar village. Ambush Party saw the suspecious movement of some smugglers, who were moving towards the International Boundary from India. The Ambush party challenged them to stop immediately, but the smugglers fled from the spot to India taking advantage of the dark and dense vegetation but the ambush Party chased them and managed to nab one of the smugglers. From whom 50 bottles of Phensedyl were recovered.
Identity of the apprehended person is Indrajit Mandal (Age - 27 Years). During preliminary interrogation, Inderjit Mandal revealed that he had taken Phensedyl from Jayanto Mandal, and after crossing the International Boundary, was to be handed over to Tarikul SK, S/o- Fuddu SK, Village - Bagichapar, Police station - Shivganj, District - Chapainwabganj (Bangladesh). For which he would have get Rs 1000/- rupees for crossing two bags (potlas) in Bangladesh.

 Apprehended smugglers alongwith seized items have been handed over to the concerned Police Station
 for further legal action.

The BSF issued a statement saying that the Border Security Force is taking strict measures to prevent smuggling along the India-Bangladesh border. Out of which some people and brokers are being caught and are being punished according to the law. In the statement clearly said that we will not allow smuggling from our area under any circumstances.
