Will the fugitive Indian white collar criminal, Mehul Choksi be deported to India ? The High court in Roseau in Dominican Republic will be hearing the habeas corpus plea put up by Choksi's lawyer on June 2. The disgraced businessman is currently undergoing treatment in Dominica China Friendship Hospital. According to investigations carried out by ANM News through inputs from Customs and police officials in Antigua and Dominica, Mehul Choksi had reached Dominica with his girlfriend on May 23.
He had no passport or travel documents. He was caught by Dominican police and charged with illegal entry. Mehul Choksi's lawyers filed Habeas corpus plea in the High Court. Mehul Choksi, wanted in India on bank fraud charges, criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust, and money laundering bought Antigua and Barbuda citizenship through the Citizenship by Investment Program in 2017. Choksi has been living in Antigua and Barbuda since 2018 and is opposing court action to revoke his Antigua and Barbuda citizenship and have him extradited to India.
