CVC shot down RTI application on Manoj Malaviya's appointment as DGP

BY A STAFF REPORTER
The Central Vigilance Commission has turned down a RTI application filed by activist Vinay Prakash Singh seeking details about the appointment of Manoj Malaviya as the acting Director General of police, West Bengal. In a sharp reply, the CVC quoted RTI sections and previous Supreme Court orders to inform that the information sought by Singh has ``no relationship with any public activity or public interest. On the other hand, disclosure could cause unwarranted invasion of privacy of that individual.'' Incidentally, sources in the union home ministry clarified to ANM News that there are no cases currently pending against Manoj Malaviya.
