SOUTH TRINIDAD RESIDENTS PROTEST FOR REPRESENTATION

By a staff reporter: Early on Friday, residents of Debe South together with councillors staged a placard protest outside the Penal/Debe Regional Corporation along the SS Erin Road to express their frustration over the Government's failure to call a by-election.
Ie News spoke with the Chairman of the Corporation Dr Allen Sammy who told us why it was unfair for residents to be left unrepresented…
He said as Chairman, in the interim he had asked 2 other Councilors to double up on their duties to facilitate the residents, however the work load is simply too much and as a result many residents may fall short on basic needs such as road repairs and water supply.
He said the residents are frustrated with the unjust treatment they are being met with and further made reference to the upcoming Tobago Elections, the 2nd for this year, compared to what South residents have to bear with.
