T&T’S PMO SAYS PARALLEL HEALTH CARE SYSTEM CONTINUES TO BE OVERWHELMED

By a staff reporter:
Trinidad and Tobago continues to break its own records as it pertains to the Parallel Health Care system’s capacity to deal with covid 19 patients…
According to Principal Medical Officer in Charge of Institutions, Dr Maryam Abdool- Richards at Monday’s MOH media conference, the current number of persons hospitalized for the virus at this time is again the highest ever recorded.
She also noted that patients too continue to present with symptoms at the Hospitals only when it almost too late, hence their chance of survival is limited. Dr Richards said a number of patients were also refusing to contact the ambulance services for assistance. She said however that the MOH is continuing its efforts to maintain this service as well as increase the ICU bed capacities
