BY A STAFF REPORTER: After meeting Congress Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Abdul Khaleque withdrew his resignation from the Indian National Congress on March 20, Wednesday.

The Congress MLA from Barpeta, Assam tendered his resignation on March 15 due to 'non-addressal' of his grievances by the PCC President and party in charge of the state.

However, Khaleque met Congress Chairperson Sonia Gandhi earlier today and informed presspersons that the party would consider his concerns. Moreover, he asserted that Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi are working hard to remove the 'anti-people' BJP.

In a letter addressed to Mallikarjun Kharge, Abdul Khaleque expressed gratitude to the central leadership of the party for reaching out and addressing his issues. "Strengthening Congress is the need of the hour, hence I withdraw my resignation and wish to work under your (Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge) and Rahul Gandhi's able leadership," he added.
