IMD Issues Rainfall Alert and Red Alert for Odisha Ahead of Cyclone 'Dana'

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of significant rainfall and strong winds in Odisha as Cyclone 'Dana' approaches, with a red alert issued for several coastal districts.

Odisha: Manorama Mohanty, Director of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) Bhubaneswar, provided an update on Cyclone 'Dana' and the associated rainfall forecast. "Rainfall activity will start from October 23rd. A red alert has been issued in the coastal districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, and Bhadrak for October 24th," she announced.

Mohanty further indicated that strong winds are expected to affect coastal areas of the state on October 24th and 25th. In light of the approaching cyclone, a warning has been issued to fishermen, advising them not to venture into the sea until October 25th.

The IMD is closely monitoring the situation and urges residents in the affected areas to stay informed and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety as Cyclone 'Dana' approaches. Emergency services and local authorities are prepared to respond to any adverse weather impacts as the situation develops.
