BY A STAFF REPORTER: In a significant move, Vibhakar Shastri, grandson of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri joined BJP after resigning from Congress on 14th February, Wednesday in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.

He resigned from the Congress party on the same day as he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. Moreover, former Maharashtra CM Ashok Chavan also joined the BJP after resigning from the Congress party in Maharashtra. 

Lal Bahadur Shastri was the second Prime Minister of India. Known for the slogan 'Jai Jawan Jai Kisaan', he played a significant role in promoting the green revolution in India. Moreover, he was conferred with Bharat Ratna (posthumously) in 1966.
