Delhi: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari announced the unveiling of the world's first vehicle equipped with a flex engine that complies with Euro 6 emission norms. Speaking at the event, Gadkari highlighted the vehicle's unique features, stating, "This is the world's first vehicle which has a flex engine and complies with emission norms of Euro 6. It gives net zero emissions. Runs on ethanol produced from sugarcane juice, molasses, and corn."
Gadkari emphasized the broader implications of this innovation, noting that other manufacturers are also developing flex engines. "Just like petrol pumps, our farmers will now have ethanol pumps. We have an import of Rs 16 lakh crores. Such vehicles will reduce pollution, save costs, and benefit farmers," he said. The vehicle is designed to operate on 100% ethanol, showcasing a significant step towards sustainable and cost-effective transportation solutions.
The introduction of this flex engine vehicle is expected to contribute to reducing India's dependence on imported fuel, while simultaneously promoting the use of domestically produced ethanol. This development marks a significant milestone in the country's efforts to enhance energy security and environmental sustainability.
