Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray has announced a Maharashtra bandh on August 24 in response to the recent atrocities committed against girls in Badlapur. Thackeray expressed deep concern over the safety of girls, questioning the very essence of the slogan "Mulgi Shikli, Pragati Jhali" if schools cannot ensure their security.

Thackeray highlighted that last week, similar protests were held across the country following an incident in Bengal. He emphasized that the bandh is not politically motivated but is a call to action against a "distorted mentality." Drawing a parallel to the collective effort against the COVID-19 pandemic, Thackeray urged people to unite and fight against such harmful attitudes to protect the safety and dignity of girls.
