By A Staff Reporter — New Delhi: As the festive season of Diwali approaches, safety becomes a top priority, especially regarding fire-related incidents. Dr. Maneesh Singhal, Professor and Head of the Department of Plastic, Reconstructive & Burns Surgery at AIIMS Delhi, has shared crucial safety tips to ensure a joyous and safe celebration.
During a recent video message, Dr. Singhal emphasized the importance of being cautious while celebrating. He advised, "Avoid lighting 'diya' on the way and do not give crackers to children. This can prevent incidents of burning during Diwali." His recommendation highlights the need to create a safe environment for families, particularly for young children who may not fully understand the dangers associated with fire.
In case of any burn incidents, Dr. Singhal provided essential first-aid steps: "Even if something happens, you should keep the burnt part under flowing water for 20 minutes and consult a doctor as soon as the burning sensation lowers." This guidance is vital for minimizing the impact of burns and ensuring prompt medical attention if needed.
As families prepare to celebrate Diwali, Dr. Singhal's advice serves as a reminder to prioritize safety while enjoying the festivities. By taking preventive measures, everyone can contribute to a happy and incident-free Diwali celebration.
