New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, presenting her first ₹1 lakh crore budget, announced a major financial aid initiative for pregnant women under the Matrutva Bandana Yojana. The scheme, with a ₹210 crore allocation, will provide a one-time grant of ₹21,000 to expectant mothers to support their health and well-being during pregnancy.

CM Gupta stated that the initiative aims to reduce maternal mortality, improve nutrition, and ease financial burdens on families during childbirth. “Every mother deserves a safe and secure pregnancy. This scheme ensures that financial constraints do not affect maternal health,” she said.

In addition to this, the Delhi government has taken steps to enhance women’s safety by approving the installation of 50,000 additional CCTV cameras across the city. This move is expected to strengthen security and monitoring in public spaces.

The opposition has raised concerns about the execution of these initiatives, but BJP leaders have called it a progressive step towards women's welfare. The scheme is expected to be rolled out within the next few months, with further details on eligibility and registration to be announced soon.
