Lucknow: Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav launched a sharp attack on the BJP, accusing it of spreading hatred and ignoring India’s core values of religious acceptance. Addressing a press conference in Lucknow, Yadav invoked Swami Vivekananda’s famous speech at the 1893 Chicago Parliament of Religions to make his point.

"BJP always tries to spread hatred. If you respect Vivekananda so much, then you should think about the speech that he gave in Chicago. In his speech, he said that we belong to a country which has universal acceptance of every religion. It’s the culture of India… They (BJP) should look back into history," Yadav said.

The SP leader’s remarks come amid rising political tensions as parties gear up for upcoming elections. By referencing Vivekananda, Yadav sought to counter the BJP’s narrative on nationalism and cultural identity, positioning the Samajwadi Party as a defender of India’s pluralistic traditions.
