Delhi: BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj has accused the Delhi government of gross negligence in managing pollution control funds allocated under the National Clean Air Program. Speaking at a recent event, Swaraj highlighted the central government's substantial financial support and criticized the Delhi administration for its inaction.
"Under the National Clean Air Program, the central government has given Rs 742.69 crore to the Delhi government to control pollution in Delhi," Swaraj stated. She cited a study from the Center for Science and Environment revealing that "CM Kejriwal and his ministers in the Delhi government have not used up to 70 percent of the money."
Swaraj blamed this underutilization for Delhi's status as the most polluted capital in the world. "Due to their negligence and inaction, Delhi has become the most polluted capital in the world," she asserted, warning of impending pollution crises. "Now the day is not far when the problem of pollution will come again in Delhi and in the coming winter, Delhi will become a gas chamber."
She further criticized the Delhi government's approach, saying, "The Kejriwal government always does publicity, propaganda, and corruption but does not prepare for the disaster coming before time because it has become a party of only press conferences."
