Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC K Kavitha has strongly opposed the proposed Waqf Amendment Bill, accusing the central government of attempting to take control of Muslim Waqf properties. Speaking at a Ramzan gathering in Banswada, she reiterated her party’s commitment to the Muslim community and vowed to fight against the bill.

"We are celebrating Ramzan with our people in Banswada, and we are discussing how the central government is trying to bring a bill that will take control of the Waqf properties of Muslims. BRS as a party will oppose that, and we are with our Muslim community—we have always been with them," Kavitha stated.

She highlighted the historical support of the Muslim community during the Telangana movement and emphasized BRS’s continued efforts toward their empowerment.

"During the Telangana movement, the community supported us, and we have always worked for their betterment. Peace should prevail in the entire country and Telangana. So we will oppose the Waqf Amendment Bill in Parliament," she added.

The statement comes amid rising concerns over the proposed bill, with opposition parties and community leaders demanding greater transparency regarding its implications. BRS has positioned itself as a strong advocate for minority rights in Telangana, with Kavitha’s remarks further reinforcing the party’s stance ahead of the upcoming elections.
