In the midst of an escalating war of words between former Bihar Chief Ministers Jitan Ram Majhi and Lalu Prasad Yadav over caste identity, Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) leader Chirag Paswan has condemned the use of caste-based insults. Speaking on the controversy, Paswan expressed his disapproval of dragging caste into political discourse, emphasizing that such remarks are not only disrespectful to the individual involved but also to the entire Mahadalit community.

“This is a dispute between Jitan Ram Majhi and Lalu Prasad Yadav. As the leader of a political party and as a Bihari, I do not believe in caste and religion, so if comments are made on the basis of caste, I am not in favour of them," said Paswan. He went on to criticize the remarks made against Majhi, stressing that they reflect a mindset that is harmful to social unity.

"The way in which caste was mentioned to insult Jitan Ram Majhi, this thinking is wrong. This is an insult not only to the person in question, but it is an insult to the Mahadalit community to which he belongs," Paswan added, underscoring the broader impact of such statements.

His condemnation of the caste-based insult aims to shift the focus towards a more inclusive and respectful political dialogue, as he advocates for moving beyond caste and religion in Bihar’s politics.
