Amaravati, April 4 — Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu held a high-level review meeting with a visiting team from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) at the Secretariat in Amaravati on Thursday. The meeting focused on the recent death of a young girl in Narasaraopet, Guntur district, who showed symptoms consistent with the H5N1 avian influenza virus, commonly known as bird flu.
The ICMR team was dispatched to the state to investigate the case and assess any potential public health risks. During the meeting, officials briefed the Chief Minister on preliminary findings, confirming that the area surrounding the girl’s residence currently shows no signs of further infection.
According to health officials, eight survey teams were deployed to conduct comprehensive field assessments and community health checks in Narasaraopet and adjacent localities. So far, no additional bird flu symptoms or human cases have been detected.
Chief Minister Naidu directed health authorities to remain vigilant and take all precautionary measures to prevent any possible outbreak. He also instructed officials to coordinate closely with central agencies and enhance public awareness regarding the virus and necessary hygiene protocols.
The government has reassured residents that the situation is under control, and any further developments will be addressed with swift action.
