Bengaluru — On the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar underscored the Congress party’s enduring commitment to upholding the Indian Constitution. Addressing the media, he credited the framing of the Constitution to Babasaheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and reaffirmed Congress’s foundational role in preserving its core values over the decades.
“The Congress party gave this country the Constitution through the leadership of Babasaheb Ambedkar. We have protected the values of the Constitution since Independence. Our leaders, from day one, are fighting to uphold these principles,” Shivakumar said.
The statement comes amid heightened political discourse around constitutional integrity, with several opposition leaders voicing concerns over what they describe as systematic attempts to dilute democratic institutions. Shivakumar emphasized that the Congress has consistently stood against such threats and championed inclusivity, equality, and justice.
Marking Ambedkar Jayanti, Shivakumar joined other Congress leaders in paying homage to Dr. Ambedkar and reiterated the party’s resolve to continue defending constitutional values against what he called “authoritarian tendencies.”
