Belagavi, Karnataka: Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar today announced that the All India Congress Committee (AICC), led by Mallikarjun Kharge, will be conducting an Extended Working Committee (EWC) meeting in Belagavi. The event is especially significant as it marks the centenary of a historic Congress session held 100 years ago.
“The meeting will be held to commemorate a key moment in Congress history. 100 years ago, under the leadership of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and Gangadhar Deshpande, a Congress session took place here in Belagavi, where Mahatma Gandhi was elected as the president of the Indian National Congress,” said DK Shivakumar.
The meeting will take place at the same location as the historic event, highlighting the continuity of Congress leadership and the party's deep connection to its past. The session is expected to focus on key national issues and strategize for the upcoming elections, reflecting on the party’s legacy and vision for the future. The event will also serve as a platform to celebrate the contributions of leaders like Gandhi ji, Nehru, and Deshpande to India’s independence movement.
