Kolkata | CPI(M) leader Hannan Mollah has strongly criticized the handling of the Murshidabad violence and accused the police of failing to prevent the unrest. Speaking about the incident, Mollah remarked, “They say that police is responsible. They say that criminals were moving around, but police didn't listen and allowed 'gundas' to create the trouble.”
Mollah highlighted the growing political discourse around the violence, especially in Kolkata, where tensions between Suvendu Adhikari and Mamata Banerjee are escalating. “But here in Kolkata, Suvendu Adhikari and Mamata Banerjee are (doing) Hindu-Muslim,” he added, referring to the ongoing political blame game between the two leaders.
The CPI(M) leader claimed that, despite the widespread blame directed at the police by political figures, the common people in the area have pointed fingers at law enforcement's failure to act on time. He suggested that political posturing in Kolkata is distracting from the real issue, which he believes lies in the inadequate police response to the violence.
