Dehradun: The principal of a prominent boarding school in Dehradun has spoken out following the police investigation into a case filed under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act involving students at the institution.
In a recent statement, the principal provided a timeline of the school's actions in response to a complaint initially raised by a parent in April. The principal noted that after the complaint, the housemaster and the school’s doctor spoke with the child, who reportedly did not disclose any issues. A video call between the child and the parents was organized, during which the child stated that he was fine.
The principal also mentioned that the school has suggestion boxes for anonymous complaints, but no issues were reported through this channel. The school closed for summer vacations on May 18, and reopened on July 18. The complaint was reiterated by the parent in July, prompting the principal to initiate an internal investigation once the school resumed operations.
"I spoke to the student’s roommates and classmates, and they did not report any issues," the principal stated. Despite efforts to meet with the parent to gather more information, the parent did not visit or provide additional details in July. With the police now handling the investigation, the principal assured full cooperation with law enforcement.
