New Delhi – The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has issued a clarification regarding a viral video circulating on social media that shows passengers jumping over Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) gates at Jama Masjid Metro station on the Magenta Line. The incident occurred on the evening of February 13, 2025.

In an official statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), DMRC explained that the situation arose due to a temporary surge of passengers at the station, leading some commuters to bypass the AFC gates in an attempt to exit quickly. However, DMRC assured that security personnel and metro staff were present at the scene to manage the crowd and counsel passengers.

"The situation was never out of control. Rather, it was a momentary reaction of some passengers due to a sudden surge at AFC gates," the DMRC stated.
