In a recent update, Manorama Mohanty, the Director of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) Bhubaneswar, reported that the South-West monsoon has withdrawn from parts of Nuapada and Kalahandi districts, as well as most areas of Ganjam, Balangir, and Kandhamal districts. The total rainfall recorded in Odisha during this monsoon season stands at 1,092 mm, which is slightly below the normal value of 1,150 mm.

Mohanty emphasized that while the monsoon has retreated in these regions, the state can expect light to moderate rainfall activity over the next seven days. This weather pattern may provide some relief to the agricultural sector, which has been monitoring rainfall closely for crop development.

The IMD's announcement is significant for farmers and local communities, as it marks a transition in the seasonal weather pattern. As the monsoon recedes, the focus will shift to preparation for the upcoming winter months and the impact of rainfall on ongoing agricultural activities. The IMD continues to monitor weather conditions closely and will provide further updates as needed.
